Description
London is a modern city but how did it start? Join us on a tour that explores its beginnings when, following the Roman invasion of Britannia, a new trading town was born called Londinium.
You'll go on a journey through ancient history and see the Roman wall (which pops up in the most unexpected of places), find out what life was like for citizens of Londinium as well as walk in their footsteps where the forum and basilica once stood. Enroute you’ll hear about a forgotten river, essential to life in Roman Londinium and discover the strange Temple of Mithras where men worshipped in secret (no women allowed!). We’ll end our walk at the place where Londinium’s citizens thronged to watch gladiators and spectacles in a vast amphitheatre. You’ll see the 2000 year old remains of this centre of Roman life in London
